17 Again

We join Mike O'Donnel as he throws away a promising basketball career in favour of standing by the girl he loves.

Eighteen or nineteen years later however, the big promotion he should have got after sixteen years of loyal service doesn't come off, his kids can't stand him and he is living with a friend as his divorce is finalised, while his wife is busy destroying the stuff he left behind.

He returns to high school and meets the janitor, who says, "I bet you want to do it all over again, don't you?" Of course, Mike says yes and this whole madcap adventure begins.

Now ordinarily, we would have expected a kind of Groundhog Day where Mike is returned to the beginning, but no. Mike (now Mike Star), returns to his old high school to rub shoulders with his own children, still in love with his wife...

Although this is pretty cheesy at times, it's a thoroughly good watch with Zac Efron (High School Musical) and Matthew Perry (Friends) as the hapless Mike O'Donnel. The are some brilliant scenes that had us laughing out loud or nearly in tears and Mike's best friend, Ned (Thomas Lennon - Hancock) steals the show as he tries to woo Principal Jane Masterson. Oh and watch out for Michelle Trachtenberg (Buffy the vampire slayer's little sister).

A definite one to watch
